Skyforge’s Ascension update is quickly approaching and among the new features is the Council – a political system that put players in charge of electing representatives that will take charge of Aelion for a certain period of time! There’s still plenty of time to convince your friends that, even though you always miss your cue for buffs, you’re clearly the right person to run an entire planet! Of course, seeing as the actual elections will be settled among the immortals, why not get some practice in among the common folk?

Ascension: Equipment

It’s time to take a look at how Equipment will be changing in the Ascension update! Although the interface has not been dramatically changed, the current mechanics have been simplified; “less extra resources and bag manipulation” became the main idea behind the new approach.

Firstly, the number of equipment elements will be reduced. New equipment will consist of 10 key items instead of 16. They include: 1 slot for Weapons, 1 for Artifacts, 4 for Jewels and 4 for Stones of Power. This does not include the slots for consumable items, which remain in their current state. Secondly, equipment will no longer have a direct impact on character stats. Instead, it will impact the diversity of extra effects that enhance a character and boost their efficiency. As a result, most equipment is equally relevant for all classes.

Your might determines whether you can use an item or not.

Weapons

Weapons will be the only item of equipment dependent on your currently selected class. Jewelry and Artifacts will, in most cases, be just as useful to all classes. The situation where, when a new class is obtained, you have to play with a character that does not have an additional weapon nor suitable amulets (and is therefore significantly less effective) will no longer occur. There are three main differences for character weapons that are unique for each of the classes:

Jewelry and Stones of Power

Instead of Amulets and Rings, characters will have Jewels (in 4 slots) and Stones of Power (in 4 slots). Each slot will provide 1 special effect. Characters cannot use two of the same jewels or stones.

Jewelry and Stones of Power excellently suit any class and do not need to be changed when switching a character's role. Each item will provide 2 out of 4 possible bonuses: increased damage, health, critical, and impulse damage. The number of bonuses received will depend on their quality and rarity.

Note, bonuses from specific equipment do not provide fixed increments to certain stats. Two similar looking Jewels can generate different bonus multipliers or percentages within a certain framework.

Artifacts

Artifacts are one of the many new things appearing in Skyforge following the update. These are unique items that will be replacing Additional Weapons and can help you significantly improve character efficiency. For example: by increasing the damage an enemy receives if their health bar has dropped below 30% or boosting damage to a target if you have not received any damage.

Obtaining Equipment

All the necessary equipment can be obtained as trophies for defeating monsters. The best quality equipment will be available in Raids and Distortions. As a character’s Might grows, you will get the chance to wear high-generation equipment that provides more tangible bonuses.
Maximum equipment efficiency will be restricted by the current invasion season. Each season will correspond to its own equipment generation.
There are two difficulty levels in all adventures:

  • Adventures with fixed difficulty that corresponds to the current invasion season. Here you can receive the latest generation’s rare and epic equipment.
  • Adventures with character-based difficulty, where you can only receive equipment of the previous generations.
    By killing bosses in adventures you can earn equipment items, but the number of such killings is limited. Every day characters have an added chance to get equipment from a boss, but you cannot collect more than 5 of these chances. The restriction applies to each boss individually. For example, if you obtained equipment from Lorro the Cold today, this will not stop you getting another item if you defeat Alciona and Melia. Thus, every day you can obtain one item from a boss or save up your attempts and complete the adventure 5 times in a row at once.

Upgrading Equipment

The equipment upgrade system has undergone a significant review. Equipment Amplifiers, previously impacting stats that characters received from specific items, are a thing of the past. Their progress has been converted into the development level of the cathedral - a special building that you will find on the Capital's interface.

The main difference in the new system is that now bonuses directly impact the main stat (Might) rather than any items used.

You can upgrade the level of the Cathedral by decorating it internally and externally for Credits. By improving the Cathedral, you increase your character's Might, which boosts damage and health points.
The Cathedral level for players who have already improved their equipment amplifiers will be calculated based on the amount of Credits and Enhancement Stones spent increasing the level of all three amplifiers before the update. Special Equipment Amplifiers will disappear from the game, but those holding such effects will receive improvements for their Cathedral, which will increase the boost to Might.

Additionally, character’s gear will no longer include slots for Trophies as these will disappear from the game. After the update, their role will be fulfilled by the Flavius Laboratory, which you can find on the Capital's interface.

What will happen to a character's Equipment and Bag after the update?

  • Weapons: Each character will receive one weapon for each unlocked class if, before the update, the character held or had in their bag at least one class weapon. You will get the best of the possible variants. For example, if a character had a weapon of epic rarity in their bag, they will still have this after the update. Lower quality weapons will disappear from the bag and be compensated for in Credits.
  • Rings and Amulets: The switch for Jewelry will be similar. The Amulets with the best stats and the rarest Rings will be transformed into new Jewels, but the other Rings and Amulets will be compensated for in Credits.
  • Artifacts: Every player will receive a set of five artifacts. Their rarity and quality will depend on the rarity and quality of Additional Weapons.
  • Legendary Rings and Fluids: Instead of one of the Legendary Rings, players will receive three Legendary Artifacts. Other rings and fluids will be converted into Credits.
  • Trophies: The quantity and quality of trophies inside the player’s bag will impact the level of research in the Flavius Laboratory.
  • Tactical Sense Amplifiers will disappear from the game. They will be compensated for with Credits depending on their level.
  • Tactical Sense Replicators will be compensated for with Victor's Medals.
  • Backpacks that contain random items (received in adventures) will be compensated for with Credits.

Where do you go for the best equipment after the update?

To pick up equipment after the Ascension’s launch, you should go to the current Invasion interface. This will show a list of adventures where you can obtain the best quality equipment. Make sure to check regularly!

This material focuses on content that is in development. When the update is live, elements of the Equipment system may change.

The reviewed equipment system will enable players to focus on the game process without getting distracted by changing equipment. In addition, it will make switching between classes easier and more convenient, without having to depend on rings and amulets, while characters will be equally effective against any invasion army.

Mechanoid Invasion is Live - 26/09/2016

The Mechanoids have returned to Aelion to in another attempt to wipe us from existence.

Invasions are a large-scale activity available to all players who have received access to their Divine Form. Characters who successfully increase their rankings in the Laboratory for each invading army will be provided access to new Invasion-specific adventures. While it is not possible to “lose” an Invasion that does not have an accompanying Avatar, the event will still require commitment from the players to reach their maximum potential: Equipment can be improved, new Symbols will be available, stats can be drastically increased, and you’ll even learn who your worthiest companions truly are!

Skyforge Mechanoid Invasion


While an Invasion is active, two special assignments will be available to your Adepts every 8 hours. The first will provide Gifts, bring new followers to your Order, and award 12 Faith Points to those that have unlocked their Divine Form. The second awards 10 Victor’s Medals which functions as a special currency used to buy various goods in the Invasion section of the marketplace.

Your loyal Adepts are not the only ones who will be busy with special assignments – during the Invasion you will have special tasks waiting for you as well! Theses missions will appear on the Divine Observatory globe and cycle every day to provide new opportunities depending on your level of research within the Laboratory.

  • Rank 12 – Flagship of the Mechanoids

Completing any of the Invasion Adventures will net you special rewards for the maximum rating obtained!

  • C Rating – 10 Sparks of Divinity
  • B Rating – Reliquary containing Sparks of Insight
  • A Rating – 10 Sparks of Divinity
  • S Rating – A uniquely colored costume obtainable only from that adventure!

Please note that these rewards can only be obtained once!

Participation in Invasion Adventures will earn the player Eidoses which can be used in the aforementioned Laboratory to expand their Knowledge of the Mechanoids. This Knowledge, in turn, can be used on one half of the Mechanoid Atlas to increase your Resistances, increase general statistics, and further empower your Invasion symbols or talents.

Players who do not possess sufficient Rankings or the Divine Form can still participate in Aelion’s defense by visiting Adventures that are inhabited by Mechanoids such as:

  • Factory 501
  • Saiban Archipelago
  • Palon Prototype Plant
  • Facility 902

Completion of these Adventures will result in obtaining Tokens for that invading Army which, in turn, will unlock Sparks required for expanding one side of Mechanoid Atlas. The more tokens obtained, the more Sparks will be rewarded. Your current progression can be viewed at any time by selecting the Invasion’s marker in the Divine Observatory.

Skyforge Invasions Mechanoids

Some of the most notable nodes available in the Mechanoid Atlas include:

  • “Electrostatic Attacks: Damage” – Enemies struck by your Impulse charge will take damage in 2 seconds if they do not move.
  • “Electromagnetic Pulse” – Impulse damage inflicted to shields is increased by 25%
  • “Dazzling Flare” – Taking damage has a chance to blind all enemies within an 8 yard radius.
  • “Shock Emitter” – In PvP, your attacks reduce damage inflicted by the enemy by 15/17/19/21/23/25% and may decrease their control resistance by 10/12/14/16/18/20%. The amount is dependent on the Symbol’s level.
  • “The Might of Other Worlds” – Increases Might Efficiency by 3% per level of this Symbol

Additionally, upon completion of the first Invasion related activity players will be placed into an active Operation. Operations will provide players both personal goals as well as total progression goals for all players taking part. Meeting these goals allows the player to gain extra rewards and potentially move to a higher tiered operation!

Ascension: Get ready for combat on October 19th!

Ascension Release Dates

While we still have plenty to share regarding Skyforge’s Ascension, we’re finally ready to share the answer to one of our most common questions – when will Ascension release?

Skyforge’s Ascension update will be live on October 19th with the pre-patch releasing on October 5th! If you haven’t been keeping up with the all the info surrounding the update, stay informed by checking back regularly to read all the latest Skyforge news!

With that said, today we’ll quickly go over the new additions to the combat system along with a brand new trailer!

Ascension: Combat

The battle system is considered by some as one of the most iconic features of Skyforge. Crushing enemies with a powerful combo, avoiding attacks with an elegant dash, suddenly changing the outcome of a battle by activating the Divine Form and dragging your unfortunate adversaries into a black hole — all of this is incredible fun! So what could make the system even more dynamic and spectacular?




"Freaking Kraken! Come over here, you belching Tol-Monter! Thinking of coming for me? Huh, you slimy creature! Well come on then, you chunk of underdone seafood! Curse you! Slither over here, you cretin! I'll tear out your suckers and shove them down your throat!"

That's how! Select gear, chunks of armor, or pieces of your enemies' bodies and turn them into a dangerous weapon! How about snatching up a pair of poisonous triffid stems and whipping an unruly druid with them?

You are a god, have some fun!


Each selected item can only be used a few times, but the strength of the attacks is simply amazing! The selected weapons differ in type and can be used for protection or rapid attacks against single or multiple enemies. Picked up a Khelp’s claw? Excellent! Use it as you will, its previous owner can no longer object. Perform a few powerful strikes and, when you've had enough, throw it at your unsuspecting enemies.

By the way, as well as claws, you can hurl guns, staves, whips, grenades, mines and so on. Some alien toys can give you a boost for a short period of time, so do not be too quick to throw them away!

Show those creatures how feeble they truly are!


And that's not the only surprise! We have further developed monster behavior and added abilities to immortals to create new unforgettable sensations in PvE battles that make them even more dynamic. Take the battlefield under your control! Defeat enemies with skill combinations or act according to the situation: dodge attacks, collect new ultimate bonuses, and use them to change the outcome of the fight!

In addition, certain class skills will be adjusted very soon. Familiar abilities will get extra effects, which will add to the intensity of the battles! Let’s use the following as an example:

Cryogen running out and the enemy is about to get the upper hand? What luck! The free Icy Comet bonus is triggered and can immediately strike the repulsive berserker right between the eyes! Ha, that's what I'm talking about!
We are confident that all the listed changes will transform Skyforge’s already amazing combat into something even better! Fights will become more spectacular, dynamic, and the variety that was so lacking in long battles will improve.

Ascension: Operations & Directives

With Ascension fast approaching, today we are going to discuss three features intended to improve gameplay variability and increase player engagement through operations, directives and various opportunities to catch up to the server’s top players.

Operations

To begin, while it was not directly was not subjected to any global changes, Operations will be simplified and be more player-friendly. What makes the Operations in Ascension stand out most, is that they no longer depend on the active invasions, which means that they will include quests against all kind of threats to Aelion!

During the activity, which lasts for 14 days, players can only be signed up for a single operation. To access it, players must complete any appropriate mission or continue to complete them in any order to improve their rank. Operation tokens will only be received by completing Squad, Group, or Invasion adventures. In order to earn more progress points and improve your Operation rank, you should focus on completing higher priority tasks available via the Aelion Globe.

Other than that, Operations were not subjected to drastic changes: players attempt to reach the top of the ranking, and, consequently, increase the rank of the operations they can participate in. Their personal and total progress will yield enticing in-game bonuses.

Directives

The update will also bring Directives to the game, which are sets of in-game activities that replace old promotion adventures. By fully competing those quests you will receive significantly more resources, and benefit from them much more than from individual adventures alone! A set may include solo and group adventures, regions, and PvP activities.

In addition to regular adventure rewards, you can receive Credits, Argents, Victor's Medals, Bastion progress, Divine Deeds, and Construction Points for your Pantheon for completing sets. The amount of bonuses is based on your character’s prestige, and there is some probability that it could be increased 5- or even 20-fold!

Directives are generated individually for each player and updated daily. Any player can “accumulate” up to 7 Directives. After you start any set, you will have 24 hours to complete it. On average, it takes about two hours to complete all adventures in a directive. You can access adventures included in a set directly from the directive adventures list simply by clicking it. You can also find particular adventures on your regional map or in the adventure list.

A directive counts as completed once all included activities have been completed at least once. You are allowed to skip one or several adventures included in the set by using Stimulants, which you will receive for completing Directives and participating in promotions.

Occasionally, on the Globe you will find special Directives that have a time limit, but are unlocked for everybody. Usually, they will be launched on the occasion of global game events such as Invasions or holidays. Additionally, top-ranking players on the server will be able to influence those in the future!

And, to conclude, let’s discuss catching up with the server’s stronger players. What should you do to close the gap in Ascension?

We successfully developed a system that accommodates for the average quality of Equipment, Bastion level, and Divine Specializations of all active characters on a server. Based on that data, lower-level players will receive special Directives with additional rewards. Bonuses might include significant Bastion progress and large volumes of Divine Deeds. Additionally, the Globe might offer a special Directive which would give all willing players an opportunity to fight a training version of an Avatar of a Great God and unlock a new Divine Specialization!

All players can access adventures with difficulty that adjusts to their character, and one can always find equipment that will correspond to their Might. That way, new players will be able to reach levels required for the next-to-latest generation equipment by completing Bastion quests and receiving more Might with the bonuses described above. This will bring you just a small step from accessing maximum difficulty adventures where you can earn the last generation equipment together with other players on your server.

Skyforge's Newest Raid Boss Obliterates the Battle Arena!

Described as “devastating” and “unpredictable,” Tol-Monter is ready to tag into Skyforge as the game’s newest raid boss. This happy fellow is the leader of the Oceanid army, which means that participants are going to be getting a glimpse into the darkest terrors ever to come from the depths of the sea.

When it arrives in Skyforge, Tol-Monter’s champion form will be the single toughest boss fight in the game, requiring players to plow through several phases, each with unique challenges. If a raid team can get to the end, it will need to move quickly: “This powerful creature will not stop for anything in an effort to fulfill the will of the Great God. Remember, time is against you, Tol-Monter’s attacks are so strong that they gradually destroy the arena in which the battle takes place.”

Invasions Halted!

Aelion’s steadfast defense over the past year has caused each of the invading armies to retreat, take time to regroup, and reorganize before they inevitably return with a vengeance!

As we transition into the Ascension update, no new Invasions will occur and all current Invasions will be halted. We got the information that the Oceanides managed to regroup first. They will hit Aelion with new strength on October 5th!

Ascension: New Values

Many players have voiced their concerns about the existing system of weekly caps. We have received a number of comments and have been monitoring its performance for a long time. This resulted in our decision to get rid of the caps as a way of limiting character’s development. This is a substantial change for the game’s economics system, and it will also affect a number of other mechanics.

Heroes will no longer have limits to the main currencies they can receive. The value system has been simplified and the already-familiar Credits and a new resource—Knowledge of Enemies—will become the prevalent type of reward and the main resource for upgrades.

This decision does have its downside: you can no longer freely exchange Credits for Argents (and vice versa). However, Ascension also features a new way of earning these currencies. Before, players were able to exchange some of their Credits for Argents, in the coming update you will be able to earn them independently in the following ways:

  • Gathering offerings at the Altar (we’ll return to that shortly);
  • Completing daily Directives;
  • Participating in battles at the Inghar Test Area, Battles of Equals, Operations, and other activities.

Altar

Altar is a new way of earning Credits and Argents in addition to adventure rewards. This is where your mortal followers leave their offerings, providing you with up to 10 every day. They include random amounts of Credits and, with certain luck, Argents. The minimum amount of rewards depends on the current rank of your Altar, which increases each time it is used. Once you have collected all offerings for the day, you can use the Altar to exchange Argents for Credits. Doing that is much more profitable than the initial offerings, but the number of uses of this feature is limited.

Replicators

Replicators will be removed from the game and, at the same time, the range of uses for Stimulants will expand. Currently they’re used for speeding up the rate at which your adepts complete their missions during promotions. Now you can use them to:

  • Immediately complete adepts’ missions during promotions;
  • Complete Bastion quests quicker;
  • Speed up completion of Directives

Stimulants will be obtainable by purchasing them in the market, winning them during promotions, or as a daily login reward. After the update, Replicators in your character’s possession will be converted into Stimulants.

Premium subscription

Premium subscription bonuses no longer have caps; they also influence the amount of Credits and Knowledge of Enemies that may drop from monsters or received as a reward for completing adventures.

Trophy Hall

Character enhancement items are now available in the Trophy Hall instead of the Invasion tab of the market. After the update they will provide similar bonuses that influence efficiency of Bastions, Cathedrals, and the Towers of Knowledge.

Every enhancement your character may receive will have 4 ranks. Because of the increased efficiency of bonuses, the enhancements you may have received earlier will have 3rd rank, and your characters will receive Victor's Medals as a compensation. You can learn more about the conversion rate in the table below.

Skyforge will make a big step towards Ascension tomorrow. This is the start of the road to that game that we all dream about, both players and developers alike. For many months we have worked hard, inventing, discussing, creating and reworking all the systems that you can see today. We have had to review many approaches, hold difficult discussions and create several prototypes to reach a unanimous opinion on what the first step in the Ascension would be.

Skyforge’s key currencies are now your own actions – choose what adventures to go on, based on what you want to enhance. Might? Earn new equipment from Squads, Groups, or Distortions. How about a new Symbol? Take a quest in the required stronghold. Maybe you’re a bit lacking on resistances against the invading armies? Stop by Flavius’s Laboratory for assistance. Even if you fall behind other players in terms of development, the directive system will enable you to catch up quickly, increasing the volume of rewards you receive.!

What should I do on my first login?

• Collect everything stored in the pending rewards interface (F9). You can see the list of removed resources and compensations here.
• Open the Character tab, click Symbols (I), look through the list and activate symbols you like by clicking Save.
• Your character will have some of their new equipment on already. The rest of the items you can find in your pending rewards list (F9). Take everything and equip the items you like.
• Open the Aelion map interface (K) and go to the Capital tab (Shift+K). Here you can obtain various enhancements for your character:
o Go to the Cathedral. Upgrading it costs Credits and allows you to receive Might.
o Go to the Trophy Hall. Here you can further enhance your character by spending Victor's Medals that you receive as compensation for various resources.
o Go to the Tower of Knowledge. Upgrading it costs Knowledge of Enemies and allows you to receive Might.
o Open the Altar and collect 10 offerings from your followers. Remember to return here daily!
o Go to the Flavius’s Laboratory and start quests that will allow you to receive new abilities from one of the invading armies tabs.
• Teleport to the capital to access the new Order interface. Open your Order (L) and send your Adepts on a journey!. Remember to talk to Herida in the Divine Observatory: she’ll grant you a free relic.
• Open the Provinces tab on the map of Aelion (K), and on it, find Bastions and Class Temples. There you can receive quests. You can only receive quests in one Class Temple and several Bastions at once.
• Go to the Aelion tab on the map of Aelion and activate a directive.
• Assign the consumables you might need to your quick access panel before your first battle.
• Splendid! Now your character is fully equipped and ready for battle, you only have to complete the quests you received in any order.

We have waited a long time for this day, but this is just the start of the road. Skyforge’s developers still have plenty of work ahead to improve the new systems. In addition, we have lots of plans for the future. The closest one is launching the complete Ascension update on October 19th, then efforts will go towards perfecting the new version of the game! This is due in part to both the demands of, and wonderful ideas & feedback provided by, the community!

History of Aelion: Kyros Caves

This time we travel to the Kyros Caves, a deep naturally-formed cave within the territory of the Eskenian Peninsula, not far from the Diomane Ocean coast. Reaching this location by foot can take several hours from the nearest locality.

History

Kyros is yet another network of boring innumerable volitional caves. They were once flooded with subterranean waters and when the water sank, the caves became shelter for various kinds of animals. The network used to attract speleologists, but since nothing useful was ever discovered (including deposits of mineable ore), they completely lost interest and all work was wrapped up.

Common residents never really took an interest Kyros. Only a small number of brave speleologists and tourists dared to descend into the cave’s depths, but there are fewer and fewer of them every year. Anyone that would choose to explore the cave can easily find more interesting objects or locations to adventure within. Besides, wild animal colonies have significantly grown within the caves and present a noticeable danger now.

Current Situation

Local inhabitants have been suffering from an increased activity by predators in the region. When animals began attacking people, it was clear that there was something behind their aggression. Something or someone was constantly driving them out of the caves, forcing them to find another habitat. When an emergency signal came in, the authorities of the nearest village began to panic. It looked like a group of ignorant tourists managed to get into these deadly caves.

They called for Immortals immediately, hoping that there would still be time to get the visitors out of trouble. No matter what the circumstances are, the Kyros Caves need to be studied carefully to understand what disrupted the natural order of things.

Ascension: Pantheons

Today, we’ll be overviewing how Pantheons have changed recently. It has become much simpler and provides more benefit to both commanders and regular players because joining a Pantheon will ensure a clear boost to character efficiency parameters. The size of the bonus depends on the Pantheon rank, with a top ranking Pantheon adding 10% to the damage and health points of each of its members. These indicators do not impact prestige, so a player does not drop should he leave the Pantheon.

But what is a Pantheon Rank, what does it depend on and how can you increase it?

The updated Pantheon is primarily a way to find companions for group activities and to boost the efficiency of your character, and not a separate economic strategy with its own difficulties and conventions.

This is why the number of Pantheon chats have been cut and the interface has been revamped. You will no longer have to spend time managing the Pantheon Stronghold, collecting extra resources, distributing energy, working with obelisks and so on. The Pantheon has kept one stat - its rank. As a Pantheon's rank increases so does its capacity, access to the academy, and participation in Pantheon tournaments is unlocked. Plus, you get the chance to establish your own coat-of-arms and increase standing stat bonuses.

To increase the rank of a Pantheon, its members need to gather sufficient Construction Resources. The amount of resources gathered is displayed on a dedicated bar in the Pantheon interface. Once the bar is full, the members will have to spend a certain amount of Credits, vote for the upgrade, and the rank will be increased. A Pantheon with the maximum rank of 20 can have a total of 290 characters: 260 Pantheon members and 30 Pantheon Academy students. Regardless of their status in the Pantheon, all characters will receive the above mentioned 10% increment to damage and health points. If there were more than 260 players in a Pantheon following the update, new members cannot join until places become available. No player is automatically excluded from a Pantheon they are a member of.

Construction resources may be obtained by completing Directives and by participating in competitive activities. Please note that resources will be further accumulated even after the bar is full. Distortions will be available to all players, regardless of whether they are Pantheon members or not. Additionally, each and every player will be able to access the battle stats screen that was previously exclusive to Pantheon members.

The resources that players have spent on Pantheon upgrades before the update will be allocated to Pantheon rank upgrade after the update. The Victor's Medals that users spent on Obelisks have been restored to their rightful owners. You will no longer need to invest Victor's Medals to receive passive bonuses from the Pantheon.

The social panel of the Pantheon has also been redesigned. There are 2 Pantheon chats: a general chat for all the Pantheon members, including Academy students, and a Commander chat.

The new Pantheon system will make life easier for both regular members and commanders thanks to the very simple, clear, and transparent system for increasing rank and extra bonuses.
